Magellan Employee Assistance Program

At Santen, we believe work life balance is an important aspect of a health life, which is why we provide a confidential, robust Magellan EAP. With the program you and your household members will have the following resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Please read through the individual sections to learn what our plan covers per program.

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers you and your family free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals and follow-up services for personal and/or work-related problems. You and your family can use the EAP for support with issues such as:

  • Finding elder care
  • Relationship struggles
  • General stress
  • Financial hardship
  • Parenting information

You and your family members can meet face-to-face with in-network, licensed mental health professionals for up to 3 sessions, per issue, per year. With our EAP, you also have access to unlimited telephonic counseling and hundreds of online resources.

Magellan provides virtual therapy options through BetterHelp, with a national network of licensed therapists trained to help with many challenges including stress, anxiety, grief, marital/family relationship concerns, parenting, substance misuse and more.

  • No cost to you and your household members
  • Up to 3 pre-paid counseling sessions (per issue, per 12-month period)
  • Confidential and provided by a third party
  • Virtual therapy includes meeting through text message, live chat, by phone or video conference.
  • Access is not immediate but typically, you can communicate with a therapist within 24 hours of completing the BetterHelp registration process and questionnaire.

Your financial wellness program can help you take control of your monthly finances, avoid pitfalls and achieve your financial goals.

  • Take a financial assessment to learn how money is affecting your health, wealth and financial status
  • Meet with a Money Coach for up to three 30-minute telephone consultations per topic, per year.
  • Make a personalized action plan
  • Register for financial wellness webinars

A Lifestyle Coach will help you clarify your goals, identify any obstacles holding you back and find solutions to overcome the obstacles. Your coach helps you clarify your goals, identify obstacles that hold you back, and develop action-based solutions to achieve your goals.

  • Lifestyle coaching is short-term and the duration varies by individual
  • Meet regularly with the same coach by phone or video
  • Coaching sessions last up to 45 minutes in length

On January 1, 2022, Magellan Healthcare launched a new and enhanced digital emotional wellbeing program.

Powered by NeuroFlow, the new app includes enhanced versions of our award-winning digital cognitive behavioral therapy (DCBT) modules and other program features, such as:

  • Self-care activities like breathing exercises or journaling
  • Progress trackers for mood, sleep, stress and pain
  • Proactive nudge reminders
  • Reward points and badges
  • Easy access to Magellan’s virtual and in-person provider network*
